History

Industrias Tip Top Leáñez & Cia. S.A. was founded in 1935 by Don Angel J. Leáñez, a chicken feed importer.  Over time and in an ever-changing economy, Industrias Tip Top Leáñez ventured into the production of liqueur, syrup, and our flagship product: Ponche Caribe.  Don Angel J. Leáñez proposed the idea of producing a Ponche, but it was his son, Mr. Dick S. Leáñez, who started the process to create Ponche Caribe as we know it today.

In 1965, Mr. Dick S. Leáñez began working on producing Ponche Caribe: a mixture of eggs, milk, rum, brandy, and, of course, the “secret family recipe.”  For 12 years, he experimented with different formulas, tweaking the recipe and ended up throwing away over 65,000 bottles of Ponche.  Finally, on November 6, 1977, it all came together.  He was able to refine the process and produce the first batch of Ponche Caribe; that same recipe still holds strong today.

With an ever-growing demand for Ponche Caribe in the local market, exporting was the next logical step in the evolution of Industrias Tip Top Leáñez & Cia. S.A.  Ponche Caribe is now exported throughout the Caribbean, the United States, Central America, and Europe.

Mr. Angelo J. Leáñez, the son of Mr. Dick S. Leáñez, now carries the responsibility of the day-to-day operations at Leáñez Int’l. Corp. B.V.  Tip Top Leáñez currently imports and represents such prestigious brands as Presidente Beer, E.&J. Gallo, and wines from all the best-known wineries in the world.

The name Leáñez is synonymous with quality, authenticity, and integrity.  The second and third generation family members have remained true to Don Angel J. Leáñez’s exacting standards.
